## Why do teams look beyond Kaiko for Hyperliquid and Lighter data?

Kaiko sells institutional market data, indices and reference data across 175 exchanges in its reference-data API. On Hyperliquid and Lighter, four dated facts send teams looking elsewhere:

- **History start:** Hyperliquid perps trades begin 4 Dec 2025 (220 instruments) and Spot trades 1 Dec 2025 (81 instruments).
- **Data types:** Its public Hyperliquid listing is trades by instrument; no order book, funding or open interest dataset is listed.
- **Lighter:** Kaiko's exchange list has no Lighter entry.
- **Price:** custom plans quoted by assets, data type, granularity, historical vs live access and usage; no self-serve price.

## 0xArchive coverage and access

0xArchive is built for Hyperliquid and Lighter, and starts with a free key instead of a sales process.

- **What it is:** A market-data API and archive built for Hyperliquid (core perps, Spot, HIP-3, HIP-4) and Lighter: live feeds, historical queries, order-level books, replay and exports under one key.
- **Hyperliquid coverage:** Order book (native L2, up to 20 levels per side) from 15 Apr 2023. Trades from Apr 2023, every fill from 22 Mar 2025. Funding and open interest from 20 May 2023. Liquidation events from 22 Dec 2025, with liquidated and liquidator wallets. L4 order-level book (every resting order with order ID and wallet), L4 diffs, order events and full-depth L2 from 11 Mar 2026 on core and HIP-3; HIP-4 L4 from 2 May 2026; Spot L4 from 5 May 2026.
- **Lighter coverage:** Trades from 17 Jan 2025. Funding and open interest from 25 Aug 2025. Price-level order book from 29 Jan 2026. L3 order-level book (individual resting orders, account-attributed by Lighter account index) from 5 Mar 2026. Liquidations from 10 Jun 2026.
- **Delivery:** REST, WebSocket (live channels and historical replay), Parquet exports from the Data Catalog, Python, TypeScript and Rust SDKs, CLI, hosted MCP server.
- **Price:** Free $0: the latest rolling 30 days, 50,000 credits a month, REST and WebSocket live and replay. Build $49 a month ($39 billed annually): the full retained archive, 80 million credits a month and $50 of export credits. Pro $199, Scale $799. REST trades meter at 1,000 rows per credit, so one million rows retrieved in 1,000-row pages use 1,000 credits; credits round up for each request. Parquet exports are metered per GB.
- **Source:** [pricing](https://0xarchive.io/pricing) , [venue coverage](https://docs.0xarchive.io/venue-coverage)
- **Plan detail:** Free covers the latest 30 days; Build opens each dataset's full retained archive from its own first served date. Downloads are for your own use, not redistribution.

### Kaiko's own public instrument data, 3 November 2026

Kaiko publishes its instrument reference data openly. A request for the Hyperliquid perpetuals exchange code `hldv` returns 220 instruments with trades starting 4 December 2025:

```
curl "https://reference-data-api.kaiko.io/v1/instruments?exchange_code=hldv&page_size=1000"
# 220 instruments; earliest trade_start_time 2025-12-04T00:13:18Z; class: perpetual-future
```

The 0xArchive archive reaches earlier. One hour of BTC trades on 1 June 2025 (00:00 to 01:00 UTC), six months before that date, paged through 15 requests of up to 1,000 rows and returned 14,766 fills, each with price, size, direction, fee and the trader's wallet.

REST trades meter at 1,000 rows per credit, so the full hour cost 15 credits; follow `meta.next_cursor` while more pages are available. Response (first row):

```
curl -G "https://api.0xarchive.io/v1/hyperliquid/trades/BTC" -H "X-API-Key: $OXARCHIVE_API_KEY" \
  --data-urlencode start=2025-06-01T00:00:00Z --data-urlencode end=2025-06-01T01:00:00Z --data-urlencode limit=1000
{"data":[{"coin":"BTC","side":"B","price":"104585","size":"0.25978",
  "timestamp":"2025-06-01T00:00:04.324Z","direction":"Open Long",
  "user_address":"0x26d3...aad5","fee":"9.780872","fee_token":"USDC"}]}
```

## Move the selected instrument and window to 0xArchive

- **Map identifiers:** confirm the same venue, market family and instrument on both sides.
- **Query the window:** query a bounded UTC window from the corresponding 0xArchive route, follow every cursor, and compare timestamps and row grain before importing the result.
- **Access and cost:** Build opens the retained history immediately on monthly billing; Data Catalog Parquet exports are priced per GB.
